Your band will perform before a panel of judges who will evaluate your performance. You will receive both written and recorded evaluations, and you will have the option to have an onstage critique from one of our judges. The Theta Beta chapter, in conjunction with the JSU Music Department, will provide a warm-up facility, music stands, and chairs, as well as large percussion instruments.
How much/long will my band perform?
Each band will have ten minutes of warm-up time and will perform before the judges for a total of twenty minutes.
What is the “on stage critique” and how does it affect my time slot?
Band directors can choose to have their bands evaluated on stage in addition to having them perform before the panel of judges. Bands who choose to participate in an on stage critique will not receive any additional time and will have to perform their on stage portion of the evaluation within their twenty minute time slot.
